EXPRESSING YOUR INDIVUADALITY: Surfing AT ITS BEST by Fatsurfer
I know you’ve been fed a lot of lessons on how to execute tricks, how to behave in the surfing area and even how to eat to become the kind of surfing that you woke up one day wanting about. And yes all these is important but for this part I have a good news, there shouldn’t be stopping you showing off that personal style! After all, no amount of instruction can take that away from you so the more suppress it, the more it will be screaming out. Besides, believe me, there will be no fun in surfing without putting a little twist coming out of your artistry every now and then. So load up and show the surfing world what you really got!
Before you even start training for the different routines, you will have to decide first what kind of style you will apply. This will depend entirely on your personality. For example, if you are the low- profile kind, you can keep up with precise routines with clean finish. If you are the grand type on the other hand, you can always finish executing your routines in one explosive way. If you want some graceful or wacky moments added, you can also do so. No one would take that against you as long as you don’t ruin the basic elements of the routines. So are you willing to take the risk?
One effective type of surfing that you can use to show more of your personality is body boarding. What you need to do is only ride your lovely surf board and do anything you want with a good lip because you can wear your fins while you’re in the water. Some of you might find this a little stupid and immature but common, who wouldn’t want to play every now and then? Besides, you could also execute the different maneuvers and movements that you learn along the way. Just think of it as something like a practice or training.
There is also skim surfing that already allows even those who are just starting out to apply more personalized tricks. I can see you smiling there. The objective of this move is very simple; you only have to go against the waves that touch the shoreline. While it may look unchallenging, truth is you can also apply maneuvers with it. Plus, you don’t leave other people worried about you drowning (or getting bitten apart by sharks).
The best advice you on developing style in surfing is however only consist of a few words: have fun and don’t pressure yourself too much. With this, you natural potential and wackiness will ooze out naturally from you. After all that is what surfing is all about, you being able to feel good about yourself because you are able to go through high waves. Not all people are able to do that isn’t it! Now go on, impress me, you should be out there practicing aren’t you?
