Coaching Biography
As a COACH, Maureen "Mo" Holohan runs clinics, camps, and private instructions for kids and adults of all ages. She spent years working at basketball camps run and owned by Don Perrelli (Northwestern), Doug Bruno (DePaul), Sam Perkins (NBA player), and more. She’s received the best instruction from the top college coaches in the game, including head Stanford coach and former gold medal Olympic coach Tara Vanderveer, who one day watched Maureen play, and took four pages of notes on how she could improve her game.
In addition to running her own private lessons and clinics for over 12 years, Mo also coached jayvee boys and jayvee girls, often turning most of her practices into organized clinics. Her Troy High girls’ team finished second in the conference in 2001-02; and her Dwight School boys (New York, NY) won the ’03-’04 league championship. |

Mo
strongly reinforces her belief that basketball, like any sport or craft, is built upon fundamentals, repetition, self-discipline, determination and passion. She works at connecting and building her drills from the basic to the advanced, and breaking them down for each player so that they can maximize their ability, keep the game simple, and see positive results.
Mo recommends that players work with her for a minimal amount of sessions, usually five spread out over 3-5 weeks. In addition to teaching players how to efficiently practice on the own, she specializes in shooting. After an assessment of one’s shot, she works on basics for the beginner where she reconstructs shot form and builds proper technique over time. For the veteran player, where it might be too challenging and frustrating to start over, Mo tweaks some form issues and focuses on the foundation of the shotfootworkwhich often helps correct weaknesses in form and improves accuracy.
